We have a number of means of measuring chlorine dioxide as produced by
the generator and as used in the process (the residual). These methods we
briefly outline:
-
Aeita speciation titration using standard iodine / sodium thiosulphate
chemistry. This procedure is used to determine the efficiency of the
generator system.
-
Titration Kit - based on a) above, but developed as a field test kit
which can measure low range chlorine dioxide (0-5ppm) or high range
(0-100ppm). a) and b) have a number of interfering ions e.g. nitrite,
manganese, iron.
-
Pallin Test Kit - this is the latest AWWA (American Water Works
Association) approved test procedure that measures only chlorine dioxide
and no other species including other oxidants. This test kit measures in
0.1ppm intervals at 1% accuracy.
-
Oxystix - a dipstick, like pH paper, which registers whether chlorine
dioxide is present. This is a semi-quantitative procedure.
