There have been a number of developments to pass sodium chlorite through
a charged ceramic membrane whereby Chlorine Dioxide is liberated. These
units are still in their infancy with a number of problem areas that need
to be redesigned before they can become a seriously considered production
route.
These units are currently restricted to approximately 1 to 5kg per
day production rates and their running costs on membranes and accessories
is very high.
