:: Ethylene Control ::
Ethylene is a natural growth hormone, which plays an important role in
the ripening, and decay of many fruits, vegetables, flowers and flower
bulbs. Due to inefficiencies in the maintenance of the cold chain,
ethylene that is produced/environmental ethylene has a negative
cumulative effect on the shelflife of produce during storage,
transportation and distribution.
This cumulative effect may not be seen
at the farm gate or in transportation or storage or in distribution
because the turn around time of goods of this nature is generally 1 - 3
days (5 days being a maximum).
BTC Products and Services manufactures ETHYscrub Filters which are
effective in removing ethylene out of the local environment of produce so
enhancing the shelf life qualities.
These filters are easily installed in:
Cold stores.
Controlled atmosphere containers or cold stores.
Regular atmosphere containers.
Refrigerated trucks.
The ethylene control products are based on a potassium permanganate
pellet with a large internal surface area resulting in a product with
superior capabilities of absorbing ethylene and chemically converting it
to carbon dioxide.
