BTC Products & Services was incorporated as a Closed Corporation in February 1996. We began our business activities in the application of the Stabilised Chlorine Dioxide (SCD) products into the washing of fruit, vegetables and flowers. We built this business into the primary supplier of post harvest technology, products and services into the Fruit industry with our pivot product being our SCD Chlorine Dioxide technology. We made our products HARVEST WASH WT; PUROGENE FB; POTATO WASH and OXINE WT the known standard brand names in the post harvest industry. We added our ETHYscrub Filters, which were designed in-house for the chemical removal of environmental ethylene present in Controlled Atmosphere containers.
In 2001 we added the OXICAT Chlorine Dioxide Generator and application technology to our palette of products. The Chlorite based Generators distinguish themselves from the traditional chlorine dioxide generators in a number of aspects:

We developed the Mobile CD Unit--- a truly portable chemical plant which will take a few minutes to be in full production at any given site.

Our Chlorine Dioxide Solution at 2-3 g/l is stable for 4-16 weeks. This resulted in the establishment of our Ready To Use (RTU) Chlorine Dioxide products.
We have focussed initially on the Food & Beverage industry, using chlorine dioxide as a disinfectant and hard surface sanitiser. We have built up a large customer base using our chlorine dioxide technology as process water disinfectant and hard surface sanitiser.
Our latest market development has been the INDUSTRIAL DIVISION where we have extended our reach into the treatment of drinking water; waste water (including sewage treatment); effluent treatment and recycling of process water; paper machine biocide; environmental applications of cyanide destruction and odour control.
In November 2004 we added the PURATE Chlorine Dioxide Generation technology from Eka Chemicals, USA to add to our technology base. The PURATE technology uses sodium chlorate as the precursor compared to the sodium chlorite base for the OXICAT generators.
In December 2004 we converted to a (PTY) LTD. We also obtained our ISO 9001: 2000 in July 2005.
We have recently come into a loose agreement with Englehard, USA for their ASEPTROL chlorine dioxide technology for their products, which are available in powder, sachet and tablet form.
As can be seen from the above it is our intention to build up BTC PRODUCTS as the premier Chlorine Dioxide Solution Company wherein we can offer chlorine dioxide technology, product(s) and services to any customer for any application. We have our own in-house equipment design and installation capabilities to meet our customer’s requirements.
